Things you should know

Rafting season is February to November. Early spring whitewater rafting is available on the Nolichucky River. French Broad river trips begin in April.

Reservations are highly recommended. Space is limited per trip, especially on weekends, holidays and the summer vacation season. When you have selected your trip date, call us at

What to Wear  For summer, bathing suits or quick drying shorts and a t-shirt are fine. For cool weather wear wool or synthetic clothes such as fleece, but not cotton like jeans or sweats. We provide complimentary splash gear and/or wet suits in cooler weather. Sports sandals with a heel strap or old tennis shoes are perfect for feet, but not flip flops. Waterproof cameras and sunscreen are available in our outposts.

Waivers  Everyone will be required to sign a waiver before they can raft with USA RAFT.  Anyone not 18 will have to be signed for by a parent or legal guardian.

Reservations with USA Raft  Reservations require a deposit: 1/2 day trips and camping/Crockett Cabin require a $5 per person deposit and full-day trips require a $10 per person deposit upon booking. The remaining balance and final headcount is due 30 days prior to the trip date. Reservations within 30 days of your trip and online reservations require payment in full at the time of booking.

Cancellation & Refund Policy  Because operating funds are committed long before the trip departs, few, if any, of these expenses can be recovered on late cancellations. If you are unable to attend your scheduled trip, feel free to find a substitute to fill your spot. If you must cancel your reservation with more than 30 days notice, we will refund the full amount less the nonrefundable per person deposit. If you cancel with 20 to 30 days notice you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel with 10-19 days notice, you will receive a 25% refund. Cancellations with less than 10 days notice will not receive a refund, but you will be issued a percentage of payment as a River Voucher. (River Vouchers are good for one year from the date of your trip.). No shows receive no refund or voucher. If you must cancel your trip, please let us know as soon as possible so that you may receive the largest percentage refund or River Voucher applicable.
